On May 14th, 2008, attorney Julia Zhu participated in an afternoon panel discussion on “Doing Business in China” sponsored by the Beverly Hills Bar Association. Ms Zhu addressed the topic of Foreign Direct Investment in China with emphasis on intellectual property protection.

On December 6, 2007, Alpha Leader Group U.S attorney Robert Allan was a featured panelist  at the Gould USC Law School-Institute for Corporate Counsel annual seminar.  Mr. Allan addressed the topic of Importing Problem Goods from Asia, and discussed how American corporations can protect themselves from liability and the cost of recalling substandard Asian goods through selective insurance coverage, on-site quality control and timely adherence to FDA requirements.

On October 30, 2007, Alpha Leader U.S attorneys Robert Allan and Julia Zhu were the featured speakers at a USC Law School forum sponsored by the Asian Pacific American Law Student Association (APALSA).  The presentation topic was Jump Start Your Career in China and focused on the opportunities and challenges for new lawyers interested in practicing in mainland China.  Mr. Allan spoke about his experiences with the Chinese legal system while advising U.S. companies and Ms. Zhu, a former criminal
judge, discussed the changes she has observed since leaving Shanghai in 1998 to obtain her J.D in the United States.

China Seminar at the Millennium Biltmore in New York on April 19, 2007

The USA China Law Group’s Robert J Allan and Stella Yap spoke at the International Marketing for Law Firms Focus: China Seminar at the Millennium Biltmore in New York on April 19, 2007.

The seminar, produced by ARK Group, presented speakers from marketing, public relations and legal backgrounds who discussed ways in which firms could optimize their marketing, business development and communications in Asia.

Mr. Allan and Ms. Yap’s presentation covered how law firms can establish a presence in China. Several key points included an overview of the legal practice in China, how foreign and US firms are entering China, either by opening a representative office or partnering with local Chinese law firms, and the many cultural and practical considerations in establishing a presence in China.
